OCR — Extract Text
Upload an image or PDF and pull out any text it contains. Everything happens in your browser — nothing is uploaded.
About this tool
A scanned document, a photo of a whiteboard, a PDF you can’t select text from — MediaMint’s OCR tool pulls out the text so you can search, copy, or edit it. For PDFs with real text already in them, it’s pulled out directly and instantly; only genuinely scanned pages need actual image-recognition OCR.
Questions about OCR
How is this different from just copying text from a PDF?+
If your PDF already has real text, this finds and pulls out all of it at once — same idea as copy-paste, but for the whole document. It only runs actual image-recognition OCR on pages that are scanned images with no real text underneath.
How accurate is the OCR?+
Good for clear, printed text — the image is automatically cropped, upscaled, and contrast-boosted first, which meaningfully improves results. One known weak spot: dotted lines (like in a table of contents connecting a title to a page number) can still confuse it. Always give the result a read-through before relying on it.
Can it read languages other than English?+
Right now this recognizes English text only. Other languages may be added later.
