Yes — the audio tracks section below the clip list lets you add as many as you need, each with its own start time, trim, and volume. Three choices control how the clips’ own sound behaves alongside them: keep it on throughout at a volume you set, mute it entirely so only your added tracks play, or keep it at full volume everywhere except the moments an added track is actually playing.

Yes — each clip has its own Mute checkbox and, when not muted, a volume slider (0–200%), independent of every other clip.

Yes — the output format selector next to the export button offers MP4, WEBM, MOV, and MKV.

Yes — each clip has its own black & white checkbox.

Yes — each clip has its own fade in / fade out checkboxes, which fade both the picture and its sound together over about a second.

Yes — Duplicate on a clip or audio track inserts an identical copy right after it, which you can then reposition, retrim, or leave as-is.

Yes to both — an overlay can be an image (logo, watermark, decorative frame) or a video (picture-in-picture). Position, size, and rotation are set with number fields (not mouse-dragged yet), with a live preview so you can see it before exporting. A video overlay plays without its own sound, and loops automatically if it’s shorter than the time range you give it. Freely dragging and resizing with the mouse is a bigger feature that needs its own visual timeline — that’s planned as a separate, later project.

Split the clip at the start of the part you don’t want, split it again at the end of that part, then delete the middle piece it created — the two remaining pieces export as separate clips in order, right where the removed section used to be.

Getting every cut, join, and effect to land exactly right takes real processing time, more than a simple file copy would. It’s slower than some tools out there, but far more reliable — and we’re continuously working to speed this up.

Yes — every clip is automatically resized to match the first one (letterboxed if the aspect ratio doesn’t match, not stretched), so mixed sources still combine into one consistent output.

That’s handled automatically — a silent audio track is added behind the scenes so it combines cleanly with clips that do have sound.

No browser has ever supported playing AVI files directly — that’s a browser limitation, not a MediaMint one. Editing still works normally; you just won’t see a preview player for that clip.

Yes — switch to Split-screen at the top of the page. Choose top/bottom or side-by-side, add a video for each half, and trim each one as needed. If the two sides end up different lengths, the shorter one holds on its last frame until the longer one finishes. This is a separate mode from joining clips, with its own export.

Video Studio is at its best with everyday clips — phone recordings, short social videos, and similar. Very large files, long recordings, or combining a lot of clips at once can take a while, and occasionally won’t complete, since everything runs right here in your browser rather than on a server somewhere. We’re actively working to push this further with every update, and we’d genuinely appreciate your patience as Video Studio keeps growing — if you hit a limit, that’s useful for us to know about, not something to feel bad about running into. Yes — a standalone Video Studio, built to comfortably handle much bigger and longer videos than a browser can, is planned. It’ll be part of a separate offering from the free web tools here once it’s ready, since it’s a genuinely different kind of product to build and support.
