Questions about Text to Speech
Is my text sent anywhere?+
Yes — unlike most tools here, this one needs a brief trip to our own server to generate the speech, since that’s the only way to produce an actual downloadable audio file. Nothing is stored — the text and the generated audio are both deleted immediately after your file is created.
Does this cost anything to use?+
No — it runs on a free, open-source voice engine we host ourselves, not a paid service, so there’s no per-use cost.
How long can my text be?+
Up to 2,000 characters per request. For something longer, split it into a few pieces and generate each separately.
Can I use the result in Video Studio?+
Yes — download the audio file here, then add it as an audio track in Video Studio, the same way you’d add any music or voiceover file.
Which languages are available?+
English, Hindi, and Malayalam each have separate male and female voices. Many more languages are available with one voice each, listed in the dropdown. Tamil isn’t available yet — there’s no Tamil voice in the underlying voice engine at all right now.
How does Conversation mode work?+
Write each line of the conversation separately and pick a voice for each one. When you generate it, every line is spoken in its own voice and then joined together in order into a single audio file — up to 20 lines, 500 characters per line.
